almost 7 years ago when my aunt barbara and I came to san francisco to check out apartments for my upcoming move, we happened upon la boulange bakery on union street....and ever sense it has been a staple in my SF life.
two weeks ago when we heard the {somewhat devastating} news that they
had been bought by starbucks...we rushed right off to our favorite
location in order to soak in as much as we could before it becomes part
of the corporate coffee empire.

the good news? starting next year, all your local starbucks will be selling la boulange baked goods - instead of the less the appealing stuff they sell now {yay!} in the meantime we will be eating as much la boulange as we can get...and will most likely force you to eat there if you come and visit!
