off the grid.

in an effort to break our boring dinner habits last thursday we finally hit up one of 'off the grid's' newest locations. for those of you not living in the bay area you are probably unfamiliar with 'off the grid.'  'off the grid' is an organization in charge of wrangling all the san francisco food trucks into convenient/interesting locations across the city...they are also responsible for the local music gracing the events!

really, the only problem with this entire concept is that we ALWAYS over eat.  it just all looks so good and how you could you possibly choose just one truck?
{not only did we eat at more than one truck....we also got cupcakes to go! - yikes}

 i especially love the picture of brad studying the description of 'sexy fries' at the curry up now truck.  he proceed to order them....sweet potato fries topped with mexican cheese, onions and chicken tikka masala.

milkshakes & work

after almost 3 weeks of recovery from my recent thyroid surgery i'm heading back to work tomorrow.  to be honest, i'm not sure whether to be happy or sad.  while the first 5-7 days of recovery were total CRAP, it has been really nice to take some time and re-coup, re-charge and re-lax.  i miss my job and especially all my friends at work....but i could get use to this staying home thing!
 in celebration for my last day of 'real' recovery team dunaway took me out for a milkshake.
{i can not get enough of these two....
p.s. don't feel too bad for copper, we shared!}

delfina

 for brad's 32 birthday we celebrated at delfina. lucky for us they were the home of #11 of our 'big eats list'.  while we enjoyed an amazing meal, including insalata di campo, house made ragu and birkshire pork arrosto - our absolute favorite part was dessert. not saying we are panna cotta experts or anything but this was pretty amazing.
perhaps you should all come visit and we will take you there.
(sorry for the dark photos....apparently the ambiance was more important than the photography light)

maui

 the week before my surgery we were lucky enough to have our best friends share an amazing trip to maui with us
(really, BEST friends...i know it sounds like junior high but it is the only way to describe it....jared and bradley are the definition of friendship, they have been friends for over 25 years and lucky for them, turns out vanessa and i are pretty good friends too)
we stayed in a beautiful condo in wailea (right next to the grand wailea hotel)  it's really sad that we didn't take a single picture because is was AMAZING.  quite possibly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed.
we did a whole lot of relaxing, reading and laying at the beach...dr's orders, i promise :) but we also did some fantastic hiking (in the pouring rain), snorkeling and even saw whales....i mean, a ton of whales.
 {brad's putting together a video that we will share soon}

{these are the kinds of shots you get when i'm swimming toward brad and he's manning the camera}

thank you jared and vanessa - the first of many, many vacations to come.
we love you guys
xoxo

RoliRoti

that's right....rotisserie chicken on wheels!
a couple of weeks ago brad & i spend a sunday morning ticking several items off our 'big eats' list at the san francisco ferry building farmers market {one of our favorite weekend activities}  we were not at all disappointed when we stopped by RoliRoti for a porchetta sandwich.

RoliRoti is the country’s first and finest gourmet rotisserie food truck, serving only sustainably-farmed meats and organic produce at their seasonal best. if you live in the bay area...or plan on visiting check out their website for food truck times and locations.

and the best part....after they slice the meat for your sandwich they take your bread and wipe up all the juices so you get every ounce of yumminess in you sandwich.  brad was in heaven!

mr. wonderful

today i mustered up the energy to try and thank my fabulous husband for taking such good care of me for the last 10 days.  how did i thank him?  snikerdoodles of course, and if he's lucky maybe some oatmeal chocolate chips tomorrow.

fatted calf

yum, yum, yum....let me just say....this meatloaf sandwich did not disappoint. it was delicious.  we walked into this place and knew we had to try more than just the meatloaf sandwich so we ordered a meatloaf sandwich AND a hot pastrami sandwich to share (although i basically ate the entire meatloaf sandwich before poor brad could get his hands on it!)
